Lycanroc dusk anime3/19/2023 ![]() While the anime is no stranger to deus ex machinae, it's been shying away from having major League-related battles be won by mid-battle evolutions for the past couple regions, so having Meltan's evolution be what helps it defeat Team Rocket lets it still play an important part in the story arc without cheapening the finals. This turn of events would help a few things go more smoothly. Melmetal gets significant screen time, Ash's Torracat faces his rival one last time, and Ash's Pikanium Z crystal transforms just in time to deal a finishing blow that makes the crowd go wild. Crisis now averted, the awards ceremony happens for real, followed by Ash's exhibition match against Kukui. This is where the other Meltan come in and trigger an evolution for Ash's Meltan, and the now-Melmetal gets a focus as it foils Team Rocket's plans and rescues everyone, including its buddy. ![]() Several of Ash's party members get captured, including Pikachu and Rowlet. A few hours later, before the awards ceremony begins, Team Rocket springs into action with a new scheme to seize the 'mons of the League participants-something they talked about wanting to do a couple episodes ago as a way to prove they've still got it. Splintered Stormshards wins out and Ash finally wins a League that isn't a weird spinoff one like the Orange Islands was. Ends with a Lycanroc mirror match that culminates in clashing Z-Moves as Ash's side uses Splintered Stormshards at the same time Gladion's uses Devastating Drake. ![]() Finals features Pikachu/Lycanroc/Torracat against Gladion's Lycanroc/Silvally/Zoroark, with Meltan sitting out. Though.I do have one other theory about how this could go down, but it's a bit out there: Though considering it already got a featured match as a Meltan, we probably don't have too much to worry about. Hopefully Melmetal wouldn't steal our thunder in that scenario. ![]()
